AUD/USD – Daily Read

0.6865
AUD/USD is under clear pressure at 0.6865 after finishing the last session 1.0 percent lower, and the immediate bias remains bearish because the pair is down near the floor of its one-month range rather than stabilising in the middle of it. That location matters: weakness at the bottom of a range leaves little room for routine volatility before support is tested. The market is therefore approaching a decision point where resilience could produce a meaningful rebound, but continued pressure would confirm that the decline still has unfinished business.
The broader structure supports caution because the one month average at 0.6991 sits above price, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. Momentum roughly 2.5 percent down over the last two weeks reinforces the message that this is sustained deterioration rather than a single weak session. In macro terms, the Australian dollar remains sensitive to shifts in global risk appetite and relative currency demand, which means any continuation must be judged through whether AUD/USD can absorb that pressure at nearby support. The month swing high at 0.7070, about 3.0 percent above the current price, shows how much recovery is required before the recent decline can be considered structurally repaired.
The shelf of support at 0.6857, about 0.1 percent below, is the immediate line that matters because it is also the lower boundary of the three month range 0.6857 to 0.7241. Its defence would show that participants still recognise the established range floor and could force stretched bearish positioning to retreat. Losing it would instead turn a test of support into a range breakdown. The nearer round number handles at 0.7000 and 0.6800 then define the next psychological battlegrounds: 0.7000 is resistance that would need to be reclaimed to reduce downside control, while 0.6800 is the next support area likely to attract attention if the current floor fails.
The bull path requires evidence rather than hope because holding 0.6857 would first need to produce acceptance back above 0.7000. If that recovery develops, then pressure can rotate toward 0.7070; a decisive move above 0.7070 opens the path toward 0.7241, signalling that the range floor held and the downtrend is being unwound. The bear path is more immediate: if repeated attempts to defend 0.6857 fail, then losing 0.6857 exposes 0.6800, which means the market would be extending weakness below the established three month floor rather than merely probing it.
The main risk to the bearish read is a sharp reversal through 0.7000 and sustained strength above 0.7070 because that would invalidate the sequence of lower positioning and shift attention toward 0.7241. Conversely, a failure at resistance followed by renewed pressure through 0.6857 would validate continuation toward 0.6800. Net, AUD/USD remains bearish while below 0.7000, with the decisive contest now concentrated at 0.6857.
Key levels: support 0.6857 (0.1% below), resistance 0.7070 (3.0% above), one-month average 0.6991, three-month range 0.6857 to 0.7241.
