Nasdaq 100 (NAS100) – Daily Read

Nasdaq 100 is testing a critical floor rather than forming a durable recovery, with the last price at 26,630 after finishing the last session 0.2 percent lower. The immediate view remains defensive because the index is down near the floor of its one-month range, while repeated failure to create distance from nearby support leaves it vulnerable to another leg lower. Stabilisation is possible, but proximity to the floor is not strength by itself.
The pressure reflects a broader retreat from long-duration growth exposure, where shifting expectations around rates and technology earnings matter because NAS100 is especially sensitive to changes in the value placed on future profits. The one month average at 29,076 now sits well above price, and the structure reads as a downtrend, with price under both its one-month and longer averages. The roughly 8.0 percent decline over the last two weeks confirms that weakness has been persistent rather than confined to a single poor session. Meanwhile, the month swing high at 31,170 stands about 17.0 percent above the current price, which means considerable repair is required before the broader tone can credibly turn constructive.
The shelf of support at 26,606 is the immediate decision point because it lies about 0.09 percent below the market and also marks the bottom of the three month range at 26,606 to 31,361. It is defended by recent range demand and by traders recognising that a failure there would establish a fresh breakdown from an already weak structure. The nearer round number handles at 27,000 and 26,500 frame the contest: 27,000 is resistance while price remains beneath it, because reclaiming it would create breathing room above the floor, whereas 26,500 is the next support if the shelf gives way. At the opposite end, 31,170 matters because it is the month swing high and the gateway to the three month ceiling at 31,361.
The bull path is straightforward: if 26,606 continues to hold and the index recovers 27,000 with sustained follow-through, then the immediate breakdown risk fades and a broader repair toward 29,076 becomes plausible because price would be rebuilding acceptance above the nearest round-number barrier. If that recovery later extends through 31,170 decisively, then the path opens toward 31,361, which means the market would be challenging the top of its three month range rather than merely retracing weakness. The bear path is equally clear: if 26,606 is lost decisively, then 26,500 is exposed because the established range floor would no longer be containing pressure.
The principal risk to the defensive view is a rapid recovery above 29,076 followed by sustained strength, because that would challenge the downtrend interpretation and show that the recent 8.0 percent retreat has been absorbed. Conversely, failure to defend 26,606 would validate the bearish continuation case, while repeated rejection beneath 27,000 would keep rallies fragile. Net, NAS100 remains vulnerable at 26,630, with the burden on the market to reclaim resistance before the read turns constructive.
Key levels: support 26,606 (0.09% below), resistance 31,170 (17.0% above), one-month average 29,076, three-month range 26,606 to 31,361.
