DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

9 October 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
24,807.0

The DAX 40 is testing a pivotal support zone, with the last price 24,807, 0.0 percent lower on the day. The unchanged headline masks a weak underlying structure: it is down near the floor of its one-month range, trading below the levels that would signal improving demand. The clear view is cautiously bearish while support remains under pressure. This matters because the market is compressed against a boundary where a relatively small move could determine whether buyers regain control or a broader liquidation phase begins.

The macro backdrop leaves European equities sensitive to changes in rate expectations, bond yields, the euro, global trade conditions, and confidence in industrial demand. Those forces matter particularly for the DAX because of its exposure to exporters, manufacturers, financials, and other cyclically sensitive businesses. Company guidance and earnings resilience can provide selective support, but a stronger currency, tighter financial conditions, or weaker external demand would challenge the index more broadly. Momentum roughly 2.2 percent down over the last two weeks confirms that sellers have recently dictated direction rather than merely interrupted an established advance.

The one month average 25,312 is now an important dividing line. Price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. A recovery through that area would suggest supply is being absorbed and would improve the case for a more durable rebound. Before then, the nearer round number handle at 25,000 is the first test of whether buyers can convert stability into progress. Failure there would keep rebounds vulnerable to renewed selling.

The immediate defence is a shelf of support at 24,793, about 0.1 percent below. Its proximity means the market has little room for hesitation. Holding it would show that buyers still regard the bottom of the recent range as attractive. Losing it would confirm that support has failed and expose the nearer round number handle at 24,500, where bargain demand and short covering could emerge. The three month range is 24,793 to 26,619, so a break of its lower boundary would carry more weight than an ordinary intraday wobble.

For the bull path, if 24,793 holds and the DAX retakes 25,000, then attention shifts to 25,312 as the point where the structure can begin to repair. If demand then carries the index through the month swing high 25,801, about 4.0 percent above the current price, the move would represent a meaningful change in control. A decisive move above 25,801 opens the path toward 26,619.

For the bear path, if rebounds stall below 25,000 and pressure returns, then repeated tests of 24,793 would weaken that shelf. Losing 24,793 exposes 24,500. Acceptance below that handle would signal that sellers are extending the decline rather than simply probing support.

The principal risk to the bearish read is a rapid recovery above 25,312 followed by sustained strength through 25,801. Conversely, the stabilisation case is invalidated by a decisive loss of 24,793. Net, the DAX remains vulnerable, with support close enough to produce a bounce but the burden of proof firmly on buyers.
