Nasdaq 100 (NAS100) – Daily Read

28 August 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
29,641.6

Nasdaq 100 remains structurally bullish, but its recent loss of pace argues for patience rather than chasing strength. Last price 29,642, 0.0 percent lower on the day. The index is holding in the upper half of its one-month range, showing that buyers still control the broader structure even as the market digests earlier gains. The clear view is that the trend remains constructive while 29,500 holds, but reclaiming 30,000 is necessary to restore urgency and put the highs back under pressure.

The macro backdrop is balanced into the weekend. Hotter European inflation prints in France and Spain lifted near term rate expectations and supported the dollar, while Japanese labour data held steady and modest upside in Tokyo CPI kept the BoJ policy path intact. EURUSD and GBPUSD both fell over half a percent as the dollar gained ground on the mixed European numbers. For NAS100, that firmer dollar can restrain internationally exposed earnings expectations and discourage aggressive risk taking, but it has not yet caused meaningful index-level damage. The one month average is 29,573; price is above it, and the structure reads as a clean uptrend, price above both its one-month and longer averages. Still, the market is roughly 1.2 percent down over the last two weeks, confirming consolidation beneath resistance rather than an uninterrupted advance.

The nearer round number handles at 30,000 and 29,500 define the immediate contest. The 29,500 area is defended by the one month average just above it and by buyers seeking continuation within the established rise. A sustained loss of that handle would weaken the short-term structure and invite a deeper test. At 30,000, supply reflects profit taking, caution near the recent peak, and the psychological weight of a major handle. The month swing high is 30,196, about 1.9 percent above the current price. A decisive move above 30,196 opens the path toward 30,643, which is also the upper boundary of the three month range 27,176 to 30,643. Below, a shelf of support at 28,197, about 4.9 percent below, marks the more important structural defence. Losing 28,197 exposes 27,176 and would turn an orderly pullback into a broader deterioration.

The bull path is straightforward: if buyers defend 29,500, regain 30,000, and then force acceptance above 30,196, the consolidation should resolve higher toward 30,643. That sequence would show that recent weakness was digestion within the uptrend. The bear path begins if 29,500 fails and rebounds cannot reclaim it. If selling then reaches and breaks 28,197 decisively, the market would expose 27,176 as the next downside reference.

The main risk is that weekend positioning, dollar strength, or renewed rate sensitivity produces a sharper reduction in growth exposure. The bullish read is invalidated by a decisive loss of 28,197, while the bearish case loses force if price clears 30,196 and holds there. Net, NAS100 remains an uptrend undergoing consolidation, with a constructive bias above 29,500 and stronger confirmation reserved for a clean breakout through 30,196.
