DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

6 November 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
26,325.0

DAX 40 is testing whether a strong recovery can become a durable breakout, with the last price at 26,325 after the last session finished 0.4 percent lower. It is pressing the top of its one-month range, which means the modest setback looks more like hesitation beneath resistance than a clear reversal. The near-term view remains constructive because price has rebuilt upward pressure, but conviction now depends on clearing overhead supply rather than merely holding near the highs.

The recovery is supported by a move of roughly 3.8 percent up over the last two weeks, while the one month average at 25,582 now sits below price. The structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one, which means short-term control has improved without yet confirming a broader trend change. The macro backdrop matters mainly through the rate and currency sensitivity of German exporters, because changes in financing conditions and the euro can quickly strengthen or weaken index participation. For now, the immediate catalyst is the challenge of range resistance itself, where a successful break could draw broader participation across the asset class.

The first test is the round number handle at 26,500, because holding above it would show that offers near the range ceiling are being absorbed rather than repeatedly rejecting price. Above there, the month swing high at 26,693 stands about 1.4 percent above the current price and marks the upper boundary of the three month range 24,793 to 26,693. That level matters because it separates an extended recovery from a genuine expansion into new ground. On weakness, 26,000 is the nearer support handle, which means a failure there would suggest the latest advance is losing control. The deeper shelf of support at 24,793, about 5.8 percent below, is the decisive range floor because it anchors the entire recovery sequence.

If DAX 40 regains 26,500 and then posts a decisive move above 26,693, the path opens toward 27,000 because the market would have cleared both the month high and the three-month ceiling. That bull path would be stronger if former resistance then behaves as support, confirming that the breakout is being accepted. If instead price fails around 26,500, slips through 26,000 and cannot recover it, the bear path shifts toward a broader retracement because the recent upward impulse would have stalled exactly where supply was expected. Losing 24,793 exposes 24,293, which means the recovery thesis would have failed rather than merely paused.

The principal risk is a false break above 26,693 that quickly returns below 26,500, because that would signal exhaustion and trap late positioning near the range top. The constructive read would also weaken on sustained trade below 26,000 and be invalidated by a loss of 24,793, with 24,293 then becoming the next exposed level. Net, DAX 40 retains an upward bias while holding its recovered ground, but the decisive evidence must come from acceptance above 26,693 because proximity to resistance alone is not a breakout.
