DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

8 October 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
25,104.4

The DAX 40 is caught between nearby support and a damaged broader structure, leaving the market stable on the surface but vulnerable underneath. Last price is 25,104, 0.0 percent higher on the day, yet the index is trading in the lower half of its one-month range. The clear view is cautious while price remains below the one month average at 25,363. Momentum is roughly 1.2 percent down over the last two weeks, so the burden of proof sits with buyers. This matters because consolidation near support can become either a base or a pause before renewed selling.

The macro backdrop keeps the index sensitive to changing expectations around growth, rates, currencies, and global trade. Those forces matter especially for the DAX because its internationally exposed industrial, financial, and consumer businesses respond quickly to shifts in external demand and funding conditions. For this instrument, however, the immediate driver is weak price structure rather than a fresh directional catalyst. Price is under both its one-month and longer averages, and the structure reads as a downtrend. That leaves rebounds vulnerable to selling unless buyers can reclaim lost ground and hold it.

The nearest contest is around the round number handles at 25,500 and 25,000. The 25,000 handle is psychologically important because holding it keeps the market within reach of the one month average at 25,363 and gives buyers room to rebuild confidence. A sustained recovery through 25,500 would show that demand is absorbing supply above the average rather than merely producing a short-lived bounce. Below, a shelf of support at 24,832, about 1.1 percent below, is the key defensive line. It is close enough to attract dip buyers, but losing it would confirm that the lower half of the one-month range remains under pressure. The month swing high at 25,801, about 2.8 percent above the current price, is the decisive upside barrier. Beyond the immediate range, the three month range runs from 24,697 to 26,619, defining the larger boundaries for directional expansion.

The bull path is straightforward: if 25,000 holds, then a recovery through 25,363 and acceptance above 25,500 would improve the structure and force sellers to reassess. If that demand then produces a decisive move above 25,801, it opens the path toward 26,619. The bear path begins if rebounds fail beneath 25,363 or 25,500. If sellers then push through 25,000 and the index loses 24,832, that exposes 24,697 and signals that the broader decline is extending rather than stabilizing.

The main risk to the cautious read is a forceful recovery that holds above 25,500 and converts 25,801 from resistance into support. That would invalidate the assumption that supply still controls rallies. Conversely, repeated tests of 24,832 would weaken its defensive value, particularly while momentum remains negative. Net, the DAX is not breaking down yet, but it remains structurally heavy. Buyers need to reclaim the upper levels to change the message; sellers only need support to fail.
