EUR/GBP – Daily Read

8 November 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
0.8344

EUR/GBP is pressing the lower boundary of its recent range, with the last price at 0.8344 and little changed on the session (under 0.05%). The quiet session masks a weak underlying structure because the pair is down near the floor of its one-month range rather than stabilising around its middle. Sterling retains the relative advantage, and the burden of proof remains on the euro. The clear view is bearish while nearby support is under pressure, although the limited distance to that support makes confirmation more important than chasing the prevailing direction.

The broader foreign-exchange backdrop matters through relative European and UK rate expectations, because EUR/GBP responds to the gap between those outlooks rather than to broad dollar direction alone. The one month average is 0.8385; price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. The pair is also roughly 0.4 percent down over the last two weeks, which means recent flows have consistently favoured sterling even though the latest session itself has been subdued. Until that relative preference changes, euro recoveries are more likely to meet supply than develop into a durable reversal.

The immediate shelf of support is at 0.8321, about 0.3 percent below, and it matters because it is both the floor of the three month range 0.8321 to 0.8612 and the last visible barrier before a wider extension lower. Holding that shelf would show that sterling strength is meeting meaningful resistance and could force positioning back toward 0.8400, the nearer round number handle above spot. Beyond there, the month swing high at 0.8487, about 1.7 percent above the current price, is the decisive resistance because clearing it would overturn the sequence of weakness. The lower round number handle at 0.8200 matters because losing the range floor would leave little nearby structure to absorb renewed pressure.

The bull path is straightforward: if 0.8321 continues to hold and the pair reclaims 0.8400, then the market can begin challenging the bearish structure because price would have moved away from the range floor and recovered an important psychological handle. If that recovery then becomes a decisive move above 0.8487, it opens the path toward 0.8612, which means the three-month ceiling becomes the next meaningful test. The bear path is cleaner: if repeated rebounds fail beneath 0.8400 and support gives way, then losing 0.8321 exposes 0.8200 because the established range would have broken in the direction of the prevailing trend.

The principal risk to the bearish read is a sharp shift in relative euro and sterling expectations, because this cross can reverse quickly when the policy comparison changes. A sustained recovery through 0.8400 would weaken immediate downside conviction, while a decisive move above 0.8487 would invalidate the current bearish structure and redirect attention to 0.8612. Conversely, failure at support would confirm that the apparent calm at 0.8344 is consolidation rather than balance. Net, the pair remains vulnerable while below 0.8385, with 0.8321 defining whether weakness extends toward 0.8200 or develops into a corrective recovery.
