AUD/USD – Daily Read

0.7028
AUD/USD is attempting to stabilize, but the burden of proof remains with buyers. The last price is 0.7028, 0.2 percent higher on the day, yet it is down near the floor of its one-month range. That combination matters because a positive session does not by itself reverse the recent loss of traction. The pair still looks vulnerable while trading below its one month average of 0.7139. The structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. The clear view is cautiously constructive beyond the immediate weakness, provided nearby support survives.
The macro backdrop is a contest between global risk appetite, commodity-sensitive growth expectations, and relative central-bank pricing. The Australian dollar generally needs confidence in regional demand and orderly markets, while the US dollar benefits when investors seek liquidity or expect US policy to remain comparatively restrictive. For this pair specifically, the roughly 1.4 percent decline over the last two weeks shows that sellers have controlled the recent adjustment. The question now is whether that move is merely a reset within the broader rise or the beginning of a deeper reversal.
The first defensive shelf is support at 0.7007, about 0.3 percent below. It matters because it sits immediately beneath the market and separates an orderly pullback from a test of the wider range floor. The nearer round number handle at 0.7000 reinforces that area psychologically, so buyers should be most visible there if the larger advance remains healthy. Losing 0.7007 exposes 0.6909, the bottom of the three month range of 0.6909 to 0.7241. A move into that lower boundary would signal that the current weakness has broadened beyond a shallow retracement.
On the upside, 0.7139 is the first meaningful recovery marker because reclaiming the one month average would show that demand is rebuilding rather than merely defending support. Beyond it, the nearer round number handle at 0.7200 is where confidence should be tested before the month swing high at 0.7241, about 3.0 percent above the current price. That high is the decisive ceiling. A decisive move above 0.7241 opens the path toward 0.7400 and would confirm that the longer upward structure has regained control.
The bull path is straightforward: if 0.7007 and 0.7000 absorb selling, then a recovery through 0.7139 can build toward 0.7200. If buyers subsequently clear 0.7241 decisively, then 0.7400 becomes the logical extension. The bear path begins if support fails. If the market loses 0.7007 and cannot quickly recover 0.7000, then sellers gain room to press toward 0.6909.
The principal risk to the constructive view is renewed US dollar demand alongside weakening confidence in global and regional growth. The read is invalidated by sustained trade below 0.7007, especially if 0.6909 comes under pressure. Net, AUD/USD remains a longer-trend bull undergoing a meaningful pullback, but buyers must defend the current floor before the upside case deserves renewed conviction.
