AUD/USD – Daily Read

26 September 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
0.7028

AUD/USD is trying to stabilize at 0.7028, 0.2 percent higher on the day, but the bounce does not yet reverse the broader pullback. It is down near the floor of its one-month range, where buyers must prove that the longer upward trend remains intact. The clear view is cautiously constructive while nearby support holds, although the pair is vulnerable because recent selling has pushed it below an important reference point and left little room for disappointment.

The macro backdrop remains a contest between relative growth expectations, central bank policy expectations, global risk appetite, and demand for the US dollar. For the Australian dollar, sentiment toward China and commodity-linked economies also matters, while defensive market conditions generally favor the US side of the pair. The one month average is 0.7139; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Momentum is roughly 1.4 percent down over the last two weeks, showing that sellers retain tactical control even though the larger structure has not conclusively turned bearish.

The first defensive shelf is support at 0.7007, about 0.3 percent below. It matters because it separates an orderly retracement from a deeper challenge to the broader advance. The nearby 0.7000 round number handle should attract attention and resting demand, but it can also accelerate selling if buyers fail to defend the area. On the upside, 0.7139 is the first meaningful recovery test because reclaiming it would indicate that the pullback is losing force. The 0.7200 round number handle is the next psychological barrier and would signal renewed pressure on the month swing high at 0.7241, about 3.0 percent above the current price. The three month range is 0.6909 to 0.7241, making those boundaries the clearest markers of whether consolidation resolves into continuation or reversal.

The bull path is straightforward: if 0.7007 holds, buyers reclaim 0.7139, and the pair establishes itself above 0.7200, then pressure should shift toward 0.7241. A decisive move above 0.7241 opens the path toward 0.7400 because it would confirm that demand has absorbed the supply capping the recent range. The bear path begins if rebounds remain trapped below 0.7139. If selling then pushes through 0.7007 and 0.7000 fails to restore demand, losing 0.7007 exposes 0.6909 and converts the pullback into a more serious deterioration.

The main risk to the constructive view is a sustained break of support alongside a broader rush toward the US dollar. That would invalidate the idea that this is merely a correction within an upward trend. Conversely, firm acceptance back above 0.7139 would weaken the bearish case, while a break of 0.7241 would invalidate it outright. Net, AUD/USD remains tactically soft but structurally salvageable, with 0.7007 carrying the immediate burden of proof.
