USD/CHF – Daily Read

0.8246
USD/CHF is attempting to resume its broader advance, but the immediate structure remains corrective. Last price is 0.8246, with the last session 0.1 percent higher, yet it is trading in the lower half of its one-month range. That matters because the rebound has not repaired the recent loss of control, leaving the pair vulnerable until it can reclaim the ground surrendered during the pullback.
The macro backdrop matters mainly through shifts in relative demand for the dollar and Swiss franc, because both currencies can attract defensive flows and the balance between them determines whether this recovery develops or stalls. The instrument-specific picture is mixed: price is below the one month average at 0.8282, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Progress of roughly 0.09 percent up over the last two weeks shows underlying resilience, but it is too modest to establish renewed upside control.
The first meaningful test is 0.8282, because recovering that reference point would show the pullback is losing influence and would improve the case for a return toward the month swing high at 0.8395, about 1.8 percent above the current price. That high is the central resistance because it also marks the upper boundary of the three month range from 0.7949 to 0.8395. The nearby 0.8400 handle adds psychological resistance, which means the pair must do more than briefly probe the high to establish a genuine break. Below, the nearer 0.8200 handle is the first area where demand should become visible, while the shelf of support at 0.8191, about 0.7 percent below, is more important because it separates an orderly pullback from a deeper deterioration. Its defense would preserve the longer upward structure; its loss would shift attention toward the bottom of the broader range.
The bull path is straightforward: if USD/CHF holds above 0.8191, regains 0.8282, and sustains pressure against 0.8395, then a decisive move above 0.8395 opens the path toward 0.8400 because resistance would have yielded at the top of the three month range. The bear path is equally clear: if the rebound fails beneath 0.8282 and pressure carries through 0.8200, then losing 0.8191 exposes 0.7949 because the support shelf would no longer contain the correction.
The main risk to the constructive view is repeated rejection below 0.8282 followed by acceptance under 0.8191, because that sequence would invalidate the idea that this is merely a pullback within a longer advance. Conversely, firm trade through 0.8395 would invalidate the cautious near-term stance and confirm that upward control has returned. Net, 0.8246 leaves USD/CHF delicately constructive but unproven, with support still intact and resistance demanding confirmation.
Key levels: support 0.8191 (0.7% below), resistance 0.8395 (1.8% above), one-month average 0.8282, three-month range 0.7949 to 0.8395.
