The values screen, explained · five checks, plain English

This company clears both standards. There are two widely recognised ways to check whether a company is suitable for a Muslim investor. Here is how it did on each:

The common standard · AAOIFI
Used by most halal investing apps
✓ PASSES
Our stricter standard · asset-based
The one Titan applies
✓ PASSES

What these two standards are, and how they differ →

  • Business activity Its core business isn't built on prohibited lines — no gambling, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, or interest-based lending. Pass
  • Debt load Interest-bearing debt is just 5.3% of its assets, well under the one-third ceiling — it does not run on borrowed money. Pass
  • Interest-bearing cash Cash held in interest-bearing accounts and securities is 10.8% of assets, under the one-third limit. Pass
  • Receivables Money owed to the company is 23.7% of assets, under the 49% limit. Pass
  • Revenue purity Only 1.1% of revenue comes from non-compliant sources — under the 5% line. Pass

Every security is read against two recognised standards: our stricter asset-based screen (ratios measured against total assets) and the more widely used market-value standard (measured against market capitalisation). Where they agree we say so plainly; where they part ways — almost always on the debt check — we show both readings and mark it, because that disagreement is the finding, not a fault. We report the score; you and your scholar make the call.

The business, in plain words · what the numbers mean

The best business in tech, priced like it

Nvidia builds the surfboard everyone else rides — the chips and the CUDA software the entire AI industry is locked into, growing near 85% at margins most companies can only dream of. On the surface it even looks cheap: about 16 times forward earnings. And here is the discipline our screen applies that a hype feed never will — chip earnings are cyclical.

Why we don't call it a bargain. Nvidia is sitting at the peak of an AI-capex boom, and a low multiple on peak earnings is usually a warning, not a gift; the market is already pricing in the day that spending cools. Normalise those earnings toward mid-cycle, the way you must with any cyclical, and Nvidia trades at roughly fair value — not a deep discount. That is not a bearish call. It is arguably the most important company in technology, and you are paying a fair price for it, not a cheap one. Knowing the difference is the whole game.

The honest risk. This is the definition of a crowded trade, and its revenue leans on a handful of giant customers whose own AI spending could slow. If that capex cycle turns, Nvidia feels it fast and hard — which is exactly why we won't pretend the low headline multiple makes it a bargain. A magnificent business at a fair price, with real cyclical risk. Analysis, not advice.
