US Dollar Index (DXY) – Daily Read

25 September 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$101.23

The US Dollar Index is testing the upper edge of its recent range with the underlying trend still pointed higher. Last price is 101.23, 0.0 percent lower on the day, so the immediate message is consolidation rather than rejection. It is pressing the top of its one-month range after a sustained advance, which matters because acceptance here would confirm that buyers remain willing to hold dollars at increasingly demanding prices. The clear view is constructive while the index holds its recent structure, but conviction should rise only when resistance gives way.

The broader macro backdrop is one in which relative policy expectations, growth resilience, and demand for liquidity can quickly redirect capital toward or away from the dollar. For DXY specifically, the current bid reflects persistent preference for the US currency against its major counterparts rather than a single-session shock. The one month average is 99.81; price is above it, and the structure reads as a clean uptrend, price above both its one-month and longer averages. The dollar has also moved roughly 1.7 percent up over the last two weeks. That combination shows sustained demand, although positioning near the range ceiling leaves the market more sensitive to any catalyst that challenges the prevailing US advantage.

The month swing high at 101.40 is the first decision point, sitting about 0.2 percent above the current price. Sellers are likely to defend it because it marks the recent limit of accepted value, while buyers need to prove they can transact above it rather than merely touch it. A decisive move above 101.40 opens the path toward 102.00, where the nearer round number handle may attract profit-taking and fresh opposing flow. On the downside, 100.00 is the nearer psychological handle and an important test of whether pullbacks remain controlled. Below there, a shelf of support at 98.60, about 2.6 percent below, is the more consequential structural defense. The three month range is 98.56 to 101.64, so current trade is compressed near its upper boundary. Losing 98.60 exposes 98.00 and would signal that the established demand zone has failed.

The bull path is straightforward: if the market clears 101.40 decisively and holds above it, then prior resistance should become support and encourage a push toward 102.00. If buyers absorb selling there, the breakout would look durable rather than stretched. The bear path begins if attempts above 101.40 fail and price retreats through 100.00. If that weakness develops into sustained trade below 98.60, then 98.00 becomes exposed and the recent uptrend would have transitioned into a broader range breakdown.

The main risk is a rapid reversal in relative policy expectations or a shift away from defensive dollar demand. The read is invalidated by loss of 98.60, because that would break the shelf underpinning the advance. Until then, failed breakouts can create volatility without changing the larger structure. Net, DXY remains constructively biased, with 101.40 separating an intact uptrend from a confirmed extension toward 102.00.
