DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

25 September 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
25,266.5

The DAX 40 is pinned near support, but this is not yet a convincing base. Last price 25,267, 0.0 percent higher on the day. It is down near the floor of its one-month range, showing that sellers retain control even though immediate downside pressure has paused. The clear view is cautiously bearish while price remains beneath the market’s recent center of gravity. That matters because a weak index at the bottom of its range has little room to absorb another negative catalyst before orderly consolidation turns into a broader decline.

The macro backdrop leaves European equities sensitive to changes in growth expectations, interest-rate pricing, currency conditions, and global risk appetite. For the DAX specifically, the international exposure of its industrial, automotive, chemical, and technology constituents makes external demand and financing conditions especially important. Price action reflects that caution. The one month average is 25,590; price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. Momentum is roughly 0.6 percent down over the last two weeks. This is controlled deterioration rather than capitulation, but it means buyers still need to prove that they can do more than defend a single session.

The first meaningful defense is the shelf of support at 25,164, about 0.4 percent below. It matters because it separates a compressed test of the range floor from a fresh downside extension. The nearer round number handles at 25,500 and 25,000 also frame positioning. Reclaiming 25,500 would show that buyers can lift the index away from immediate danger, while 25,000 is the psychological line likely to attract both bargain demand and protective selling. The three month range is 24,697 to 26,619, so the market still sits within a broader balance despite the weaker short-term structure. The month swing high is 26,472, about 4.8 percent above the current price. That is the decisive upside barrier because recovering it would overturn the recent sequence of weakness rather than merely produce a rebound.

The bull path is straightforward: if 25,164 holds, then a recovery through 25,500 can begin rebuilding confidence and bring 25,590 back into play. If buyers then sustain control above that area, the market can work toward the month swing high. A decisive move above 26,472 opens the path toward 26,619, confirming that demand has absorbed the supply responsible for the current downtrend.

The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds fail beneath 25,500 and selling resumes, then pressure returns quickly to 25,164. Losing 25,164 exposes 24,697. A failure at 25,000 along that route would reinforce the message that buyers are retreating rather than defending value.

The main risk to the bearish read is a durable reclaim of 25,590 followed by acceptance above 26,472. The risk to any bullish rebound is that support gives way before participation broadens. Net, the DAX remains vulnerable, with 25,164 defining whether this is stabilization or the next leg lower.
