Five checks adapted from AAOIFI screening standards: business activity plus four balance-sheet ratios. All five must pass for ethical clearance. Every figure is arithmetic on public accounts, not judgement.

The Conscience Overlay
Conscience flag · Consumer boycott campaigns

The quantitative screen above is arithmetic. Separately, community boycott lists cite this company: Cited in consumer boycott campaigns for franchise restaurant operations in Israel through KFC and Pizza Hut brands. The desk records that flag here without folding it into the verdict: the screen measures the balance sheet, the overlay informs the conscience, and they are different judgements that belong to different owners. The second one is yours.

The Business, in Plain Words

Global fast food empire trips on debt rules

Every time someone grabs a KFC bucket in Shanghai or a Taco Bell taco in Texas the cash flows back to Yum. The business shows solid 15 percent revenue growth and 20 percent profit margins, yet we pass. The numbers do not overcome the ethical screen failure on its debt ratio.

Fair value sits above the current price with a modest margin of safety, and analysts lean bullish. Still the debt load rules it out for us, plain and simple. No moat rating changes that verdict.

High leverage in a cyclical consumer sector adds real downside if growth slows or rates stay sticky. The ethical flag is not negotiable here.
