Silver (XAG/USD) – Daily Read

28 September 2026 | Commodity | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$64.22

Silver is undergoing a sharp but still potentially corrective reset. Last price $64.22, 4.3 percent lower on the day. That decline has pushed it down near the floor of its one-month range and beneath an important reference for recent positioning. The immediate tape is bearish, but the broader structure has not yet fully reversed. The clear view is that sellers control the short-term move, while the larger advance remains defensible only if nearby support absorbs the pressure.

The macro backdrop matters because silver sits between precious metals and industrial commodities. Shifts in the dollar, real-rate expectations, defensive demand, and confidence in industrial activity can therefore pull it in different directions. The current weakness suggests liquidation and reduced willingness to chase the broader uptrend, rather than confirmation by itself that the longer-term story has failed. The one month average $66.38; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Momentum roughly 1.1 percent down over the last two weeks. That measured deterioration, combined with the much heavier daily fall, indicates that selling pressure has accelerated abruptly.

The first near-term battleground is the round number handle at $64.00. Holding around it would show that buyers are willing to defend the lower end of the recent range after the selloff. Reclaiming the other nearer round number handle at $66.00 would improve the tone, but price would still need to recover the one month average before the pullback looked meaningfully repaired. Below, a shelf of support at $62.75, about 2.3 percent below. This is the key structural defense because failure there would turn a contained retracement into a deeper unwind. The wider three month range $56.13 to $71.78 defines the larger battlefield. The month swing high $71.78, about 11.8 percent above the current price, remains the ceiling that buyers must clear to prove renewed expansion rather than another rebound inside the range.

The bull path is straightforward: if $64.00 holds, then a recovery through $66.00 and the one month average would suggest that forced selling has been absorbed. If buyers then sustain a decisive move above $71.78, that opens the path toward $73.78 and confirms that the longer trend has regained control. The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds stall below the one month average and $64.00 gives way, then pressure should shift toward the main support shelf. Losing $62.75 exposes $56.13, as the market would have surrendered the level separating an orderly pullback from a broader range reversal.

The main risk to the bearish near-term view is a fast recovery that traps late sellers and restores acceptance above the one month average. The main invalidation of the broader bullish structure is sustained trade below $62.75, especially if macro conditions continue to favor the dollar or weaken commodity demand. Net, silver remains longer-term constructive but tactically fragile, with defense of support more important than attempts to anticipate a bottom.
