Nasdaq 100 (NAS100) – Daily Read
16 September 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk
28,937.8
Nasdaq 100 is consolidating within a broader advance, but the near-term balance has shifted toward sellers. Last price 28,938, 0.0 percent higher on the day, leaves the index down near the floor of its one-month range. That matters because a market holding its longer-term direction can still suffer a deeper reset when buyers stop defending the first layer of support. The clear view is cautiously constructive above nearby support, but conviction should remain limited until price recovers the ground lost during this pullback.
The macro backdrop is defined by the market’s sensitivity to interest-rate expectations, liquidity conditions, and the earnings outlook. Those forces matter especially for the Nasdaq 100 because its largest growth companies derive substantial value from profits expected well into the future. The immediate instrument-specific issue is weakening price participation after an extended advance. Momentum roughly 2.1 percent down over the last two weeks shows that sellers have controlled the recent path, even though the broader direction has not yet turned decisively lower. The one month average 29,340 sits above price, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. A recovery through that area would suggest demand is rebuilding, while continued rejection would keep rallies vulnerable.
The first important dividing line is the nearer round number handle at 29,000. Reclaiming and holding it would reduce immediate pressure and put 29,340 back into play as a test of whether the pullback is ending. Above there, the month swing high 29,753, about 2.8 percent above the current price, is the key ceiling because it marks where the latest advance failed. A decisive move above 29,753 opens the path toward 30,643, the upper boundary of the three month range 27,176 to 30,643.
On the downside, a shelf of support at 28,868, about 0.2 percent below, is doing the immediate defensive work. Buyers need to protect it because the current price offers almost no cushion above that shelf. Losing it would confirm that the range floor is failing and shift attention toward the nearer round number handle at 28,500. That handle may attract responsive demand, but it would represent damage control rather than strength. Losing 28,868 exposes 27,176, with the lower boundary becoming relevant if selling accelerates and dip buyers remain absent.
The bull path is straightforward: if 28,868 holds, then a recovery through 29,000 and 29,340 would improve the structure; if buyers then force a decisive move above 29,753, the market can pursue 30,643. The bear path begins if 28,868 breaks and cannot be reclaimed; then 28,500 becomes the next test, and failure there would strengthen the case for movement toward 27,176.
The principal risk to the constructive view is sustained weakness below 28,868, particularly if attempted rebounds fail beneath 29,000. Conversely, a firm recovery above 29,340 would invalidate the immediate bearish pressure. Net, the longer trend remains supportive, but the index is at a decision point where nearby support must hold before upside conviction deserves rebuilding.
