Nasdaq 100 (NAS100) – Daily Read

15 September 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
29,127.2

Nasdaq 100 is in a controlled pullback, but the burden of proof has shifted toward buyers. Last price 29,127, 0.8 percent lower on the day, leaves the index below its recent center of gravity and vulnerable to further pressure from higher bond yields, elevated oil prices, and uncertainty around Federal Reserve policy. The clear view is cautiously constructive while nearby support holds. The longer trend still favors recovery, but the market must rebuild acceptance above recent reference points before that trend can reassert itself.

The macro backdrop is especially awkward for a growth-heavy index. Rising energy costs are reviving inflation concerns, bond markets are demanding greater compensation, and investors are confronting the possibility of tighter policy. That combination weighs disproportionately on long-duration technology valuations. Nasdaq-specific pressure is also coming from renewed questions about the pace and durability of artificial intelligence investment, particularly across semiconductors. Even so, weakness has not yet become a broad structural reversal. It is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, while momentum is roughly 1.2 percent down over the last two weeks. The one month average is 29,354; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up.

The nearest decision area is the round number handle at 29,000. Buyers need to defend it to prevent a routine pullback from becoming a deeper test. Just beneath sits a shelf of support at 28,868, about 0.9 percent below. That shelf matters because it is the clearest nearby line separating consolidation from downside expansion. A recovery must first reclaim 29,354, which would suggest sellers are losing control of the recent range. The next round number handle at 29,500 would then become the test of whether demand can sustain itself rather than merely produce a short-covering bounce.

The month swing high is 29,753, about 2.1 percent above the current price. That is the principal upside barrier because supply previously emerged there. A decisive move above 29,753 opens the path toward 30,643, the upper boundary of the three month range 27,176 to 30,643. If buyers hold 29,000, reclaim 29,354, and establish acceptance through 29,500, then pressure can build against 29,753 and a breakout would favor continuation toward 30,643.

The bear path is equally clear. If 29,000 fails and rebounds cannot recover it, then sellers are likely to press the support shelf. Losing 28,868 exposes 27,176, with the lower boundary becoming relevant as confidence in the longer uptrend weakens.

The principal risk to the constructive view is persistent pressure from rates, oil, and further de-rating of artificial intelligence leaders. A sustained loss of 28,868 invalidates the pullback thesis. Conversely, the bearish case loses force if price reclaims 29,354 and holds above 29,500. Net, this remains a longer-term uptrend under near-term stress, with 28,868 defining whether weakness stays corrective or becomes structural.
