The Conscience Overlay
Conscience flag · AFSC Investigate

The quantitative screen above is arithmetic. Separately, community boycott lists cite this company: Documented on AFSC Investigate. The desk records that flag here without folding it into the verdict: the screen measures the balance sheet, the overlay informs the conscience, and they are different judgements that belong to different owners. The second one is yours.

The Business, in Plain Words

Heavy truck gears hide a cyclical trap

Every time a laden truck climbs a steep grade the gearbox has to deliver smooth power without fuss. Allison builds those transmissions for commercial fleets and US defence vehicles, and the numbers look attractive on paper. Revenue rose 84 percent, the firm earns a 15 percent profit margin and returns 30 percent on equity, all at a forward multiple of just 9.9 times. The ethical screen is clear and analysts still see modest upside to 136 dollars.

Yet the business sits squarely in a cyclical corner of auto parts. Low multiples on peak earnings are not a bargain, they are a warning that margins and volumes can fall sharply when fleet orders slow. The opportunity rating of none reflects that reality rather than any flaw in the product itself.

Currency swings, defence budget shifts and a sudden drop in freight demand could all compress those returns faster than the valuation suggests. We therefore pass.
