The Business, in Plain Words

Rare disease biotech priced for perfection

A patient in Japan finally clearing a stubborn lung infection marks real progress for families who had few options before. Insmed is delivering that progress, with revenue up 230 percent as its lead therapy gains ground across the US, Europe and Japan.

Yet the shares sit 6 percent above our fair value at an 814 times forward multiple while margins sit at minus 144 percent and return on equity at minus 294 percent. Narrow moat and strong buy analyst targets do not change the fact that current pricing leaves almost no margin of safety.

Execution risk in rare disease trials, regulatory delays abroad and the need to turn rapid top line growth into actual profits remain the central concerns. Analysis, not advice.
