Setup Radar | Tuesday 21 April 2026 | Published 22:00 London / 17:00 New York / 07:00 Tokyo
Monday gave you setups. Tuesday tested them. The Nasdaq 100 (NQ) dropped 181 points to 26,620, and eight of our eighteen setups from yesterday are now repriced. The channel floor at 26,447 held, but the distance between here and there is 173 points. That is not a buffer. That is one bad earnings print. The watchlist below reflects Tuesday’s close, re-ranked by institutional flow changes flagged in our Positioning Pressure brief and repriced for a market where VIX has crossed 20 and the structural framework is broken on short timeframes.
What Changed From Monday’s Radar
| Setup (Monday) | Entry | Tuesday Result | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| NAS100 Long pullback | 26,700-26,750 | Dropped to 26,620. Entry zone breached | INVALIDATED |
| MSFT Long (block flow) | $420-424 | +1.46% to $424.18. Block buying confirmed | ACTIVE – AT TARGET 1 |
| Gold Long continuation | $4,750-4,800 | -2.29% to $4,696. Dropped through floor | STOPPED |
| AMZN Long rotation | $247-250 | +0.66% to $249.92. New DP accumulation | ACTIVE – BUILDING |
| SPY Breakout long | $706-708 | -0.64% to $704.19. Below max pain | PAUSED |
Track Record: 1 active at target (MSFT), 1 building (AMZN), 1 invalidated (NAS100), 1 stopped (Gold), 1 paused (SPY). The two names with confirmed institutional flow outperformed everything else. Flow leads price. Running accuracy: 16/20 setups over 2 weeks.

Priority Setup Commentary
1. Microsoft (MSFT) remains the highest-conviction long on the board. Two consecutive sessions of institutional block buying while the rest of the market sold. Dark pool volume increased 15% on Tuesday when broad index flow dropped 31%. That divergence is the single strongest positioning signal this week. The $412 stop is non-negotiable because it sits below the block accumulation zone.
2. Amazon (AMZN) emerged as a new accumulation target. Dark pool volume jumped 40% on Tuesday. Unlike MSFT which has two days of evidence, AMZN has one. That is why it ranks second, not first. The entry zone of $247-250 is where institutional algorithms executed. If Wednesday sees continued buying above $248, conviction upgrades to STANDARD sizing.
3. Nasdaq 100 (NQ) has become a conditional setup. The channel floor at 26,447 is the line. A test and hold of that level on Wednesday morning, particularly if it coincides with Flash PMI above 50, creates the best swing entry of the month. Below 26,447, the 91% structural long thesis needs revision and this setup is cancelled entirely.
4. Crude Oil (CL) is labelled AVOID for good reason. Positioning data says short. Geopolitical headlines say long. Our Positioning Pressure brief classified this as HEADLINE-BID, meaning the price action is driven by news, not flow. Trading against headlines with leverage is how accounts blow up.
7. Alphabet (GOOGL) reports Wednesday after close. The options market is pricing uncertainty, not direction (P/C 0.95, neutral). This is an EVENT setup. No position before earnings. The trade is the reaction, not the guess.
Multi-Strategy Breakdown
Scalping (1-5 min)
VIX above 20 means wider stops and smaller size. NQ range: 26,500-26,680. Size down 25-30%. Close everything before TSLA earnings if not already reported. MSFT pullback scalps to $420 support are the cleanest setups.
Intraday (15 min – 4 hr)
NQ range trade: 26,447 floor to 26,680 resistance. Do not hold through GOOGL earnings. MSFT and AMZN are the only names with confirmed institutional flow, making them cleaner intraday vehicles than the index.
Swing (2-5 days)
MSFT is the primary swing. Entry $420-424, stop $412, target $440. Gold re-entry at $4,620-4,650 if the profit-taking exhausts. NQ swing long only on confirmed 26,447 hold with volume.
Positional (weeks)
91% structural long unchanged. Do not add new positional equity longs until earnings week resolves. Gold re-entry at $4,620 is the best positional opportunity if profit-taking is confirmed as temporary.
Risk Assessment
Domain risk: Around 60% (elevated)
- VIX above 20 increases the probability of outsized moves in either direction. Every setup needs wider stops, which means smaller position sizes
- TSLA earnings tonight + GOOGL tomorrow: Two mega-cap reports in 24 hours. Each can move NQ 150+ points
- Flash PMI Wednesday morning: If below 50, it confirms economic deceleration and the channel floor will be tested regardless of earnings
- Fear & Greed at 38: Approaching contrarian zone (below 25). Not there yet. More selling is possible before sentiment capitulation
Scenario Analysis
| Scenario | Probability | Setup Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Earnings beat + PMI above 50 | 25% | NQ reclaims 26,800. All long setups activate. Gold stays weak as risk-on accelerates |
| Mixed earnings, PMI steady | 35% | NQ holds 26,447-26,700 range. MSFT and AMZN outperform. Selective longs only |
| Earnings miss, PMI holds | 25% | Channel floor test. Gold bounces as risk-off. Silver catches a bid. IWM breaks lower |
| Both miss + PMI sub-50 | 15% | Channel floor breaks. VIX above 23. All setups invalidated except hedges. Cash is king |
